Weapons Originally Invented By Women.

Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at 16:13 by Howard Spencer-Mosley

Female chimpanzees have been observed in the wild hunting with spears, which has given rise theories that human development of weapons may be down to ‘her indoors’.

Research into chimps in Senegal revealed that some females gnaw at sticks to produce sharpened points as an aid to hunting the small bush baby primate. This behaviour has only been observed in females and immature males, the adult males seemingly getting by on strength alone.

Jill Pruetz of Iowa University says: “Females will have to come up with creative ways of getting at a problem, whereas males have brawn.”

Yeah, so watch it love.

If this same idea is applied to our own evolution the presumption of weapons developing as a by-product of masculine aggression may be wrong. Bush baby meat is so nutritious that male chimps tend not to share it with females, even when sex is offered in exchange (I know a few girls who do that). Therefore females have a greater need for tools and weapons to keep up with the big boys. Similar behaviour may have occurred in the earliest hominids.

So chaps, the next time there is a gang shooting in south London, turn to the wife/girlfriend/mother and say: “That’s your fault, that is”.

Keeps them on their toes.
