Not So Happy Mondays…
Monday, January 22nd, 2007 at 12:46 by Matt RhodesToday, January 22nd, is officially the most depressing day of the year.
According to boffin Dr Cliff Arnall, psychologist and ex-tutor at Cardiff University, the mathematical equation he has worked out within his brain tells him that today will have you staring into the black pit of despair more than any other day of the year
It’s down to a number of factors - such as having no money after spending more than you should at Christmas, breaking your new year resolutions or just looking like you’ve eaten one too many pies.
Evidence suggests Mondays are crap anyway. Phillip Hodson, a fellow of the British Association for counselling, said: ‘Our bodies work on a 25-hour clock so that- by the time we get to the weekend - we stay up later. That makes it difficult for us to go to sleep on Sunday and we wake up grumpy.’ Of course, we were already aware of this after the sterling work done by Professor Bob Geldoff on the subject.
To rub salt into the wound we appear, from today, to be entering a second ice age. MeteoGroup forecaster Michael Dukes helpfully said: ‘Temperatures are going to plummet - there could be snow almost anywhere.’ Thanks Mike.

I’m thinking of moving to Moscow.
Doctors there have noticed that many people are suffering from SAD and are recommending a diet of bananas and chocolate. Yum.
