I'm not sure if it's a white V black thing, more like a thick pointless non-celebrity desperate for fame V someone who's actually done something to become famous

Ha! ^^ Brilliant.

Though I'd say the fuss is over the race (non?) issue, the bullying seems to be a BB standard.

This sort of ganging up on someone 'different' is predictable and unavoidable if the dynamics of any group are anything to go by. The weakest, the strangest, the black or white are singled out and made to feel outside, rejected, humiliated , physically attacked or put into coventry. It happens all the time in schools, workplaces and offices - its vile , cruel, thoughtless and common place. BB crime was to bring it to our screens as entertainment just one step lower than boxing and a couple of degrees away from gladitorial combat and then to continue broadcasting this turned it into the first live sadistic torture of a blameless human being. To anyone who has suffered this behaviour it has probably brought back some sickening memories of thier humiliation and hounding, memories that have scarred their psyche and blighted their life ever since. ...But it was fascinating I was glued to the T.v squirming as I watched a talentless 'celebrity' pull the wings off a beatuiful human being reducing myself in the process to the lowest common dominator. I learnt a lot about myself because I wasn't one of the 32,000 that complained instead I ran out and bought three now collector's item Shhh perfume by Jade they'll be worth ten times what I paid for them but not quite as much as Shilpa Shetty is going to make for her public martyrdom.

I\'ve generally avoided Big Brother, only seeing the very occasional episode, and not for a couple of years at that, but I can\'t help wondering what on earth is going through the minds of the 40,000 or so people who actually bothered to complain about all this to Channel 4 and Ofcom.

From an outside perspective it seems obvious that these women are out of order, but surely anybody watching Big Brother is fully aware that it is unscripted and anything could happen. Isn\'t that the whole point of the show, to watch how these people behave in this situation? Complaining to the programme makers because you don\'t like that behaviour just doesn\'t make sense.

Voyerism is a nasty business, and if you insist on doing it you should be prepared to see some nasty things.

I saw Edwina Currie call the witches of endemol 'slags' on Question Time earlier this week.
Made me think of glass houses and stones for some reason.

I agree totally - though I must admit, as I haven't been forced into watching it, I've only seen snippets & headlines.

These, naturally, play up the racism issue but as you say, I don't think that is the issue here. It's schoolyard bullying, plain and simple - and ugly - as it is. Even the starkest portrayal of what's gone on shows that.
