Janet Street Porter in Racist Abuse Claims
Wednesday, January 17th, 2007 at 13:50 by RJ BarkerAnnoyingly voiced, horse-faced media icon Janet Street-Porter has been arrested over claims she racially abused a neighbour.
Ms. Street-Porter who has been head of Youth TV for channel four, a newspaper editor and is a famed rambler, has become a well-known, if outspoken, face on our telly. Police aren’t releasing much in the way of detail. A Scotland Yard spokesman has said - “On 16 January, a 59-year-old woman attended a north London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with an alleged racially aggravated public order offence.” The 59-year-old woman was then released on Police bail.
It remains to be seen just what she may have said or done that’s caused such offence. There is, of course, the possibility that the famously temperamental and outspoken Street-Porter just had a lapse and shouted something she really shouldn’t and actually didn’t mean, but careers have been ruined for less.
Never mind Janet, maybe the Daily Mail are hiring.
