Never Mind The Buzz-Off
Thursday, January 11th, 2007 at 16:27 by RJ BarkerSamuel Preston, singer for The Ordinary Boys - a startlingly average Jam rip-off - walked out of the recording of pop quiz, “Never Mind The Buzzcocks” this week. Preston, who met his vapid-but-quite-nice-really wife on the carcrash reality television show ‘Big Brother‘ got in a temper and walked off when Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell read excerpts[1] from his wife’s biography - Living The Dream.
Although this may seem like a piece of minor star drama we here at the Slant actually feel a degree of sympathy for Preston. As we would also find it exceedingly difficult to stay if we were forced to sit through a reading of such z-list, celeb drivel.
Comedy hero Bill Bailey promptly found himself a member of the audience to sit in for Preston and the show carried on. A Buzzcocks spokeswoman said, “”It’s a shame Preston felt he had to leave. Fans will know Simon loves to banter with his guests. It’s the nature of the show - and it’s not meant in a mean way.” Obviously something young Preston was unaware of.
The show is due to air as part of a new series starting on BBC2 on 27 January.
1. “I’ve always loved M&S but it has always been too expensive for me,” about a photoshoot for the erotic food shop, she went on to say it made her feel, “very posh and upmarket”. Bless.
