Manchester Terrace Home To Mafia Housewife

Monday, January 8th, 2007 at 15:35 by Simon Kimber

Italian police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Manchester mother-of-two, on suspicion of Mafia association, as part of an investigation that has so far led to 88 other arrests.

Ann Hathaway, 44, who returned to the UK from Rome in November 2005 to live near her family in Middleton, is married to “Godfather” Antonio Rinzivillo.  Rinzivillo is serving a 30 year prison sentence for murder and drug trafficking and is rumoured to have at one point been the second most powerful man in the entire Mafia.

Now I don’t know about you, but I’d call that “Mafia association”.

However, if Hathaway is carrying on her husband’s business from the family home as suspected, the neighbours certainly aren’t admitting to having noticed anything.  Nobody has recalled seeing her whacking any wiseguys, or even making anyone offers they can’t refuse.  They ain’t seen nothing.

One nearby resident commented “She is such a nice woman”. (…before her children were returned to her?)

Reporters were quick to discover Hathaway’s entry on the Friends Reunited website which reads:

“When i left Moorclose i went dancing in Italy and lived in Milan a few years. I then went to live in Sicily with my husband. Seven years later we moved to Rome and I stayed there for 16 years.” … “On the 16th December 2005 i came home for christmas and decided to stay here, with my two daughters and give good old England a go! miss the weather , Ha Ha ciao.”

Sadly for investigators she lists her occupation as a “Masseur” and cunningly fails to make any mention of the money laundering, extortion or message-running between key Mafia figures of which she is accused.  Conveniently the section labelled “Ann’s plans for the future” remains blank, but undoubtedly the Italian authorities will be only too eager to fill it in for her.

if Hathaway is carrying on her husband??s business from the family home

Oh no! I hope this doesn’t mean they’ll chop up that beautiful thatched roof in their search for drugs and ill-gotten gains.
