					<description>Hmm...  Might be a territorial thing.  If you can't fight bigger animals out of the area, then why not 'make the area unsuitable'.

Alternatively, like you say, glycoprotein Fel d1 might be the only compound preventing catnip and cat fur from becoming highly volatile, and this development will result in toy mice being thrown outside, squeaking as they bounce, and then blooming into a ten-foot wide fireball.  It'd be entertaining to say the least.</description>
