Kenyan Bishop Wants Fossils Reburied

Monday, September 11th, 2006 at 15:47 by Rhys Wilcox

The National Museum of Kenya has come under pressure from the chairman of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, Bishop Boniface Adoyo, who wants the exhibition of man’s evolution to be relocated to a less conspicuous area or, better yet, closed down altogether.

Where the science community and objective thinkers view the collection of fossils to be one of the best examples of the selective progression of the development of man, Bishop Adoyo sees it more of a threat to the Christian belief systems of Africa’s Christian community. Showing the fossils obviously stands as the museum’s endorsement of Darwin’s theories of natural selection and therefore a blatant statement refuting the existence of God and an offence to all non-Hell-bound people.

Perhaps Bishop Adoyo feels threatened that he is unable to sell his product when he actually doesn’t have any product to sell. He is obviously worried that any of his parishioners might start asking questions about the contradictions between evolutionism and creationism for which, he quite possibly, doesn’t have any credible answers.

So here are a few stock, Christian responses that he can use:
‘Fossils? Satan put them there.’
‘Fossils? Scientifically they don’t prove anything but can infer quite a lot.’
‘Fossils? Well, the Bible says â?¦ oh look out, it’s the Rapture!’

I expect to see the Bishop standing outside the Museum with a placard reading “Here be dragons!” If not I shall be very upset.

Kenyan Bishop? If it floats and it stinks… you know what it is!

Probably wants to head back to the dark ages too!

I had a bible once… Use it to hold up the fiction section of the book shelf, same genre just too cheesy…
