Sudanese Man Marries Nanny

Friday, September 8th, 2006 at 11:41 by RJ Barker

TheSlant sends its best regards and well wishes to the newly betrothed Mr Tombe of Hai Malakal in upper Nile State, Sudan and his beautiful, bleating new wife.

Mr Tombe was forced to marry a goat after its owner, Mr Alifi caught him in a clandestine clinch late at night on the 13th February this year.  Mr Alifi said he had heard a loud noise outside and when he went to investigate he found Mr Tombe and the goat in a somewhat compromising position.  Mr Tombe was so shocked at being discovered he ‘fell off the back of the goat,’ Mr Alifi told the Juba Post Newspaper.

Unsure of how to proceed in this delicate matter Mr Alifi went to the elders who decided that as Mr Tombe had been using the goat as his wife then his wife the goat must become.  Mr Tombe had to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese Dinars (about £50.00) for his new wife.

As far as Mr Alifi is aware Mr Tombe and his bride are still together and living happily.
