Chilli Peppers Used in Daring Prison Escape
Sunday, August 27th, 2006 at 12:00 by Tim PayneCunning inmates in a Sumatran Jail have used chilli peppers as part of an ingenious escape bid.
The prisoners, held at Pematang Siantar jail, mixed hot chillis with water in plastic bottles to produce a make-shift pepper spray, which they then sprayed on their guards, temporarily blinding them, and allowing them to escape.
The guards at the gate were apparently ‘outnumbered’ and unable to fight back due to the fiery liquid.
Most of the fugitives have since been recaptured, although two remain at large. The most recent sightings place them at the local Evian offices, pitching a new business idea for the Mexican market.
