Pete Doherty was once again in court today, pleading guilty to possession of class-A drugs. He has been released on bail.

It seems that a few hours after he was last given a two-year community sentence for drugs offences, police decided to make sure he’d been sincere in his efforts to give up.

Unfortunately, his legendary willpower had let him down and the rock-star had slipped just a little bit. Some terribly disappointed police found heroin, cocaine, crack, cannabis, and some more cannabis. Oh, and then some more crack.

The Judge today said that any sentencing option open to her “most definitely includes the possibility of custody”.

It was always unlikely that Pete would plead innocence, given that the best a fan (quoted in The Times today) could come up with was ”…and he doesn’t take them on stage anymore…”
