Schumacher ‘Will be quickly forgotten’
Friday, August 18th, 2006 at 16:03 by Adam WilliamsNothing like a good spat to liven up a season that was already looking to end in a nailbiting fashion - but with Villeneuve set to feature among the also-rans, he has decided on another way to get the spotlight of the press pointing at him.
Villeneuve has let forth a torrent of bad feeling about Schumacher that he has clearly been waiting to do. “Michael isn’t a great champion because he’s played too many dirty tricks and isn’t a great human being” he whined, before adding more: “He’s a racer - but a pure racer, nothing but a racer and, because of that, I think the day he hangs up his helmet people will just forget him“, and then putting the boot in again by dismissing comparisons to the late Ayrton Senna.
This should make things interesting if Villenueve remembers to race, and miraculously ends up on the podium alongside Schumacher…

Schumacher was of course a brilliant driver, but also a cheat. Hill won two championships as far as I’m concerned.

Yes Jacques, with all due respect you won a single World Championship. But I am sorry you have to realize Michael Schumacher will be remembered for a long time to come, where your name will not be mentioned. He broke all the records and by a long shot. So Jacques while you will be be quickly forgotten in the lesser statistics, Michael’s achievements will remain the benchmarks for many years, perhaps we will never see a driver with talent to exceed what he has done.
